Sculptra vs. Traditional Fillers: Which One Is Right for You?

Sculptra Isn't a Filler — Here's Why That Matters

Walk into any aesthetic clinic in Coral Springs and you'll hear about "fillers." But there's an important distinction many patients miss: Sculptra is not a filler. It's a biostimulator — and that one word changes everything about how it works, what it treats, and how long the results last.

The Difference Between Sculptra and Traditional Fillers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers like Juvederm and Restylane add immediate volume by physically filling in lines, hollows, and creases. They work the day they're injected and gradually break down over 6–18 months.

Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that stimulates your own body to produce more collagen. The results build gradually over 3–6 months and can last 2+ years — sometimes longer.

One adds volume. The other rebuilds your skin's underlying structure.

What Sculptra Treats Best

  • Volume loss in the cheeks, temples, and jawline — the broad, structural changes that come with aging
  • Hollowing under the eyes and along the cheekbones
  • Loose, crepey skin that needs underlying support
  • Subtle, natural-looking facial restoration for clients who don't want an "overdone" look
  • Body applications like crepey skin on the décolleté, knees, or upper arms

It's especially powerful for clients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who are losing collagen faster than they're producing it.

What Traditional Fillers Do Better

  • Lip enhancement and definition
  • Sharp, defined jawline contouring
  • Immediate results before an event
  • Targeted, precise volume
  • Clients new to injectables who want a reversible option

Many of our Coral Springs patients use both: Sculptra for the underlying structural work, HA fillers for targeted definition. This combination is at the core of facial balancing.

What to Expect From a Sculptra Treatment

  1. Consultation and mapping: we discuss goals and design a treatment plan based on facial structure, age, and desired outcome
  2. Treatment: Sculptra is injected into the deeper layers of the skin in strategic locations; sessions take ~45 minutes
  3. Aftercare: mild swelling for 1–3 days; you'll be asked to massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days ("Rule of 5s")
  4. Series of treatments: most patients need 2–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, for full results
  5. Results emerge gradually — friends will notice you look refreshed without being able to pinpoint why

Pairs Well With…

Is Sculptra Right for You?

Sculptra is a great fit if you're noticing structural changes in your face — flatter cheeks, hollowing temples, jowl development — and want a natural-looking, long-lasting solution that improves your skin from the inside out. The trade-off: it requires patience (results take months) and a series of treatments to see the full effect.
